A shot on target is a shot after which the ball would have entered the goal if it had not been stopped by the goalkeeper or a defending player on the goal line. Scored goals are also included in this metric.
Weight in the intensity metric
In BetLab a shot on target adds 10 points to the team’s intensity. It has greater weight than a shot off target, a corner or a dangerous attack because it directly creates a threat to the goal.
Setting in the algorithm
You can set the required number of shots on target for the match, first or second half. Metrics for the last 5, 10 or 15 minutes are also available, which help to evaluate the team’s recent activity.
How to evaluate the metric
Shots on target are useful to compare with the total number of shots, xG and other metrics. A large number of shots on target speaks of attacking activity but does not show the same quality of each chance.
