Glossary

Terms that appear in match statistics, algorithm settings and BetLab retroanalysis reports. Select a term to go to the detailed definition with formula and examples.

1X2

In this market you need to predict the match result: 1 — home win, X — draw, 2 — away win. The score after 90 minutes plus added time is taken into account. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not considered.

Aggregator bot

Collector bot is an algorithm mode in which signals are saved in BetLab but are not sent to Telegram or the mobile app. It allows testing a strategy on current matches without distributing signals to subscribers.

Algorithm

An algorithm is a set of conditions by which BetLab automatically selects matches and creates signals. The system monitors the course of games, checks the specified parameters and saves the results of triggered signals in the statistics.

Algorithm card

The algorithm card contains its main settings: prediction, filters, metrics and time conditions. It can be copied, saved or transferred to another user to view the strategy settings.

Algorithm rating

Algorithm ranking is a BetLab section with published user strategies and their statistics. Algorithms that created more than 50 signals and showed a positive result are included in the ranking.

Algorithm statistics

Algorithm statistics contain the main results of its signals: profit, ROI, hit rate, average coefficient, win and loss series and maximum drawdown. The data can be viewed for different periods and separately by matches and leagues.

Attacks

Attacks show how many times a team moved into attacking actions in the opponent’s half. It is a general activity indicator: many recorded attacks end without a shot or a dangerous chance.

Avg. odds

Average coefficient is the average value of the coefficients on the algorithm’s signals for the selected period. Together with the hit rate it helps to assess whether the strategy wins often enough to obtain a positive result.

Backtesting

Retroanalysis, or backtesting, is checking an algorithm on an archive of played matches. BetLab applies the specified conditions to historical data and shows which signals the algorithm could have created in the past.

Ball possession

Ball possession shows what share of playing time the ball was under the control of each team. For example, 60% for one team corresponds to 40% for the other. High possession does not necessarily mean more dangerous chances or a lead on the scoreboard.

BTTS

BTTS means “both teams to score”. In international lines this market is often designated as BTTS. The “Yes” bet wins if each team scores at least one goal. The “No” bet wins if at least one team does not score.

Corner

A corner is awarded when the ball completely crosses the goal line after a touch by a player of the defending team and a goal was not scored. In analysis corners are used as an indicator of attacking activity and as a separate betting market.

Crosses

A cross is a pass from the flank in the direction of the opponent’s penalty area or goal. The number of crosses helps to assess how actively the team uses the flanks and aerial balls.

Current odds

Current coefficient is the value of the coefficient at the given moment of the match. It changes depending on the score, time and ongoing events. The algorithm can create a signal when the coefficient enters the specified range and at the same time the other conditions are met.

Dangerous attacks

A dangerous attack is a statistical assessment of an attack in which the team approached the opponent’s goal and could create a scoring chance. The exact definition depends on the data provider, so values in different sources may differ.

Double chance

Double chance is a bet on two of the three possible match outcomes at once: 1X — home team wins or draws, 12 — one of the teams wins, X2 — away team wins or draws. The probability of winning is higher than in the 1X2 market, so the coefficient is usually lower.

Favorite

In BetLab the favourite is determined by the pre-match win coefficient. The user sets a coefficient range, and the team whose value falls within this range is used by the algorithm as the selected team.

H2H

H2H is the head-to-head history of two teams: match dates, results and tournaments. It helps to see whether a certain scenario repeated in their games — for example high scoring, many cards or home advantage.

Intensity

Intensity is a metric of the team’s attacking activity in points. In BetLab a shot on target gives 10 points, a shot off target — 5, and a corner and a dangerous attack — 1 point each. The higher the value, the more attacking actions the team performed in the selected period.

Leagues

In BetLab leagues are used for setting up and analysing algorithms. The user can save the required tournaments in a separate list, apply it in different algorithms and view signal statistics for each league.

Live

Section with football matches that are taking place right now. For each match the score, playing time, team statistics and current coefficients are displayed. By clicking on a match you can open detailed information about it.

Passability

Hit rate shows the share of winning signals. For example, if 120 out of 200 settled bets won, the hit rate is 60%. The metric should be evaluated together with the coefficients: a high hit rate does not always mean a profit.

ROI

ROI shows the efficiency of a strategy — how much profit it generates relative to the total stake amount. Formula: ROI = (Profit / Turnover) × 100%. The metric allows comparison of strategies with different stake sizes and turnover.

Shots off target

Shots off target are shot attempts after which the ball did not hit the goal frame. The metric helps to understand how often the team completes attacks with shots, but does not speak about the quality of these chances.

Shots on target

A shot on target is a shot after which the ball would have entered the goal if it had not been stopped by the goalkeeper or a defending player on the goal line. Scored goals are also included in this metric.

Starting odds

Pre-match coefficient is the value of the coefficient before the start of the match. In BetLab algorithms it can be used to select matches. For example, to leave only games in which the pre-match coefficient on Over 2.5 was in the range from 2.00 to 3.00.

TO/Total/TU

Total is a bet on the overall number of certain events in the match: goals, corners, cards or shots. Over means “total over”, Under means “total under”. For example, Over 2.5 wins with three or more goals, and Under 2.5 — with two or fewer.

W/L in a row

Series are the number of consecutive wins (W) or losses (L). The metric helps to assess the stability of a strategy and to understand what periods of unsuccessful results one needs to be prepared for.

xG

xG, or expected goals, is an assessment of the quality of created scoring chances. Each shot is assigned a probability of becoming a goal based on position, distance to goal and other factors. The sum of these probabilities forms the team’s xG value.
