TO/Total/TU

Total is a bet on the overall number of certain events in the match: goals, corners, cards or shots. Over means “total over”, Under means “total under”. For example, Over 2.5 wins with three or more goals, and Under 2.5 — with two or fewer.

Fractional and whole totals

With a total of 2.5 an exact match is impossible: the result will be either higher or lower than the selected value. With a whole Asian total, for example 2.0, an exact match usually means a stake refund. Thus, with two goals a bet on Over 2.0 will be refunded. Settlement rules should be checked with the specific bookmaker.

Totals of different events

In addition to goals, bookmakers offer bets on the total number of corners, cards, shots and other events. The calculation principle remains the same: the final value is compared with the selected line.

Individual total

Individual total is calculated for one team only. For example, Individual Over 1.5 on goals wins if the selected team scored at least two goals, regardless of the opponent’s result.

Related terms

BTTS BTTS means “both teams to score”. In international lines this market is often designated as BTTS. The “Yes” bet wins if each team scores at least one goal. The “No” bet wins if at least one team does not score.
xG xG, or expected goals, is an assessment of the quality of created scoring chances. Each shot is assigned a probability of becoming a goal based on position, distance to goal and other factors. The sum of these probabilities forms the team’s xG value.
Corner A corner is awarded when the ball completely crosses the goal line after a touch by a player of the defending team and a goal was not scored. In analysis corners are used as an indicator of attacking activity and as a separate betting market.
