The Regional League of the Ukrainian Championship is the third tier in Ukraine's football pyramid, featuring teams from various regions. It fosters grassroots football development, enabling local clubs to compete for promotion and showcase talents from across the country, reflecting Ukraine's rich regional football heritage.

History and foundation

Established in the early 1990s post-Soviet era, it started as the Amateur League and was integrated into the Ukrainian Championship structure by the PFL in 2020. Notable facts: Clubs like Kremin Kremenchuk and Niva Ternopil ascended from here to higher divisions. Amid the 2022 war, matches shifted to western regions, highlighting football's resilience. Yatan' from Kirovohrad has multiple zonal titles.

Tournament format

Teams are divided into 4-5 geographical zones (West, Center, South, East) for a single round-robin. Zonal winners and top runners-up advance to promotion playoffs on neutral grounds. Bottom teams relegate to regional championships. Season runs August to June with a winter break.
