The Slovak Championship's 3rd League for U19 players is a cornerstone of the nation's youth football development. Managed by the Slovak Football Association (SFZ), it pits regional clubs against each other, fostering talent that feeds into senior divisions and attracts scouts from across Europe.

History and foundation

Launched in the mid-1990s post-Czechoslovakia split, the league evolved from local tournaments into a nationwide competition. The 2018/19 season saw MFK Zemplín Michalovce U19 claim a surprise title, upsetting Bratislava giants. Reforms in the 2000s expanded teams and added playoffs; the 2022 pandemic-shortened season highlighted resilience, with alumni like Lukáš Harba debuting in the Fortuna Liga.

Tournament format

Featuring 12-16 teams in 3-4 regional groups of 4-5 clubs each, teams play home-and-away double round-robin (14-16 matches). Top-2 per group advance to national playoffs. Season runs August to May with winter breaks; games occur on academy grounds holding 500-2000 fans.
