The Myanmar U-20 Championship is the premier national youth competition organized by the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF), aimed at scouting and nurturing the country's top football talents under 20. It brings together elite youth squads from clubs and regions, serving as a vital pipeline for the Myanmar Premier League and national teams, fostering a new generation ready to compete in Southeast Asia.

History and foundation

Rooted in the 1990s youth development initiatives, the modern tournament kicked off in 2005, aligning with AFF U-20 events since 2012. Notable moments include Yangon United U-20's stunning 2018 victory over Shan State favorites, propelling four players to senior debuts. COVID-19 halted play in 2020, but the 2022 revival drew over 15,000 fans to the Yangon final, marking a post-pandemic boom.

Tournament format

Featuring 12–16 teams in a group stage split regionally, top teams advance to semifinals and a grand final. Held on neutral venues from March to November to dodge monsoons, matches are standard 90 minutes with extra time and penalties in knockouts.
