The Israel Championship Premier League U19 is a premier youth competition where top talents from Israel's elite clubs hone their skills at a competitive level. Organized by the Israel Football Association (IFA), it acts as a crucial stepping stone to senior football, featuring academy players from Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and other powerhouses. The season typically runs from August to May, with matches held at academy grounds or occasionally main stadiums.

History and foundation

Launched in the 1990s to bolster youth development in line with UEFA standards, the league saw Maccabi Tel Aviv dominate the 2000s with multiple titles. Maccabi Haifa took over in the 2010s thanks to their renowned academy. A highlight was the 2018/19 season when Hapoel Tel Aviv U19 stunningly clinched the title, upsetting favorites in playoffs. Alumni include Orel Buzaglo (Maccabi Tel Aviv) and Manor Solomon (Tottenham Hotspur).

Tournament format

Featuring 14 teams from Premier League reserves, the format includes a 26-match round-robin regular season (home and away). Top 6 enter the championship group, bottom 8 the relegation one. The champion is decided by group standings or a final. Matches are 90 minutes, with extra time in playoffs. Broadcasts via IFA channels and YouTube.
