Liga Alef North stands as one of two third-tier divisions in Israel's football pyramid, featuring driven clubs from the northern regions. Passion ignites on semi-pro pitches as teams vie for promotion to the National League and fight to avoid relegation in fierce battles. The league draws scouts and fans eager for emerging talents from Haifa, Nahariya, and Acre.

History and foundation

Founded in the 1950s amid Israel's post-independence football reorganization, Liga Alef North saw a major revamp in 1999 with the split into North and South conferences to boost rivalry. A standout moment came in 2013 when Maccabi Ahi Nazareth shocked favorites to earn a top-flight spot via playoffs. In 2005, Hapoel Acre's return to the National League after two decades marked a fan triumph. The league has weathered crises like COVID-19 but rebounds through unwavering supporter loyalty.

The season kicks off in August and runs to May, with 16 teams in a double round-robin format—30 matches each. The North winner promotes directly to the National League; 2nd to 5th places contest playoffs for a second spot. Bottom teams battle relegation to Liga Bet.
