The Israel State Cup, commonly known as the Israel Cup, is the premier knockout football competition in Israel, run by the Israel Football Association. It features clubs from every tier of Israeli football, from the top-flight Ligat Ha'Al to amateur divisions, creating opportunities for giant-killings and underdog stories that captivate fans nationwide.

History and foundation

Launched in 1928 as the Eretz Israel Cup under the Palestine Football Association, it evolved into the State Cup post-1948 independence. Maccabi Tel Aviv holds the record with 24 titles, starting with their 1929 triumph over Hapoel Tel Aviv (4:1). Notable moments include Bnei Sakhnin's 2019 final run from the second division, losing 0:5 to Maccabi Tel Aviv, and pandemic disruptions in 2020 leading to format tweaks.

Tournament format

Single-elimination format with 60–70 teams entering across rounds: lower leagues from 1/32 or 1/16 finals, Premier League sides from 1/8. The final is hosted on a neutral venue, often Bloomfield Stadium. Winners secure the trophy and a UEFA Conference League spot if not otherwise qualified.
