The Kubok Udmurtia is an annual regional football tournament organized by the Udmurtia Football Federation, featuring amateur and semi-professional clubs from the republic. It serves as a key platform for identifying top local teams and boosting football's popularity in the region.

History and foundation

Originating in the 1960s amid Udmurtia's budding football scene, early editions involved factory teams from Izhevsk and Sarapul. Revived in the 1990s post-Soviet era under the Federation, memorable moments include Zenit Izhevsk's 5-1 thrashing of Delfin in the 2005 final and Izhavia's stunning 2018 penalty shootout victory. The cup endured challenges like a 2020 pandemic hiatus but consistently reinforces the republic's football heritage.

Tournament format

The format features knockout stages starting from the round of 16 or 1/8 finals for lower-division sides, progressing to quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final. Up to 32 teams participate, from city league champions to First League representatives. Matches are single-leg eliminators on neutral or home grounds, spanning May to October in sync with the republican league.

Interesting facts

Average goals per game hover at 3.2, spiking over 4 in amateur clashes. All-time top scorer is Andrei Kozlov of Zenit Izhevsk with 28 cup goals.
