Launched in 2008 as the RPL Youth Championship, it expanded in 2012 to include FNL teams. It has nurtured stars like Artem Dzyuba, Fyodor Smolov, and Alexander Golovin for Russia's national team. The 2015/16 season saw CSKA dominate with a 12-point lead. In 2020, pandemic adjustments tested resilience, but it endured. Notably, Spartak's youth set a 15-game unbeaten streak in 2019, clinching the title.
Tournament format
Formatted as a single league with 16–20 teams, each plays 30–38 home-and-away matches. Points system: 3-1-0. Age limit: U21, allowing three overage outfield players. No playoffs, supplemented by a youth cup. Matches align with RPL schedule for scout visibility.
