The MFC President's Cup is a prestigious regional tournament organized by the Moscow Football Federation (MFC) for teams from Moscow and the Moscow region. It brings together amateur and semi-professional clubs, offering them a chance to compete for the trophy and scout attention. The competition highlights grassroots football development, where new talents emerge.

History and foundation

Established in the early 2010s by the MFC to boost mass football in the capital, the first edition took place in 2012 and has since become an annual event. Notably, the 2018 final drew over 5,000 fans to the Krasnogorsk stadium, where 'Sports Brotherhood' upset favorites 'Chertanovo-2' 2-1. Reserve teams from RPL clubs have participated, adding excitement. The COVID-19 pandemic paused it in 2020, but the 2021 revival saw record scoring.

Tournament format

Single-elimination knockout format with 16-32 teams. Early rounds on neutral or home grounds, round of 16 and quarterfinals as single legs, semifinals and final at major Moscow venues like Luzhniki or Dynamo. Matches are 90 minutes, with extra time and penalties if needed. Season spans spring to summer, final in August.
