The Crimean Premier League is the top-tier football championship of the Republic of Crimea, integrated into Russia's competitive system. It features the peninsula's leading clubs vying for the title and promotion spots to higher RFU divisions. The season kicks off in August and wraps up in May, drawing local fans and analysts tracking regional football growth.

History and foundation

Established in 2015 following Crimea's accession to Russia, the league saw local teams join the RFU umbrella. Early seasons were transitional: SC Simferopol claimed gold in 2015/16, while Tavriya Simferopol rode highs and lows. A highlight was Rubin Yalta's 2018 upset championship win, toppling favorites in key clashes. Despite infrastructure hurdles and UEFA sanctions, it stabilized by 2023, nurturing talent and enabling Russian Cup participation.

Tournament format

Standard double round-robin with 10 teams over 18 matchdays. The champion earns the title and a shot at First League promotion via RFU licensing. Runner-up competes for another spot. From 3rd place, playoffs decide survival, while 8th-10th risk relegation to the Second League. A regional cup playoff adds excitement.
