The President's Cup of Nepal stands as a premier national knockout football tournament, orchestrated by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). It unites top clubs nationwide, offering a platform to vie for glory under presidential patronage, fostering football's growth in a cricket-dominated landscape.

History and foundation

Launched in 2012 to boost domestic football enthusiasm, the inaugural edition saw Manang Marshyangdi Club triumph over Three Star Club. By 2018, it solidified as an annual fixture with up to 16 entrants. Highlights include Himalayan Sherpa Club's 2022 upset victory against Armed Police Force favorites. The event endured setbacks from the 2015 earthquake and COVID-19 but rebounded, enhancing ANFA's stature.

Tournament format

Pure knockout format from round of 16 or 32, featuring 12-16 teams from Nepal Super League, A-Division, and regions. Matches on neutral venues, primarily Dasharath Rangasala in Kathmandu. Single-leg ties culminate in a one-off final, amplifying tension. Held October-December to dodge monsoons.
