The tournament's roots trace back to the mid-1990s amid the burgeoning of women's soccer post-independence. The inaugural edition launched in 1996, embedding itself in the national calendar. Memorable highlights include Tammeka Võru's 2012 penalty shootout triumph over Levadia Tallinn and Pärnu Jalgpalliklubi's 2020 victory despite pandemic disruptions.
