The NPSL Members Cup is an exhilarating knockout competition within the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of American soccer. History and foundation

Launched in 2019, the Members Cup aimed to foster inter-conference competition in the NPSL. FC Baltimore claimed the inaugural title, defeating Cleveland SC in the final. The 2020 edition fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic but roared back stronger. Notably, in 2022, Detroit City FC leveraged their Cup success to ascend to the USL Championship. The tournament has evolved, incorporating expanded playoffs and drawing larger crowds.

Tournament format

The format features a group stage by conferences (Northeast, Midwest, West, South), with teams in round-robin play. Group winners and top runners-up advance to playoffs: quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. Up to 32 teams participate, with matches on neutral or home grounds. It kicks off in June and wraps in July.

Average goal tally hovers at 3.2 per game, favoring open, attacking soccer. Top scorers include Ethan Fint (Annapolis Blues, 8 goals in 2023) and Marques Billey (Cleveland SC).
