History and foundation

Established in 2015 by the Turkmenistan Football Federation to bolster the domestic football pyramid, the league saw early dominance by 'Kopetdag' and 'Ahal' reserves. 'Altyn Asyr' clinched the title in 2022. A highlight: the 2019 'Ashgabat' reserves vs. 'Energetik' thriller ended 7-6, the most goal-filled match ever. The league paused during the pandemic but returned with VAR in select fixtures.
