Spanish Championship. RFEF Third Division. Group 10
RFEF Third Division Group 10 is a regional segment of Spain's Tercera, the fifth tier of the football pyramid. It features clubs mainly from Andalusia and nearby areas, embodying raw, passionate football. Matches unfold on modest grounds packed with loyal fans, where teams fight fiercely for points and survival in the professional ranks.
History and foundation
Formed post-2020 reform when Tercera División became RFEF, Group 10 evolved from former Grupo IX-X. A highlight: in 2022, UD Almería B stunned rivals to reach playoffs. Clubs like CD Roquetas and Polideportivo Almería have risen from here to higher divisions. COVID-19 disruptions added grit, but the league bounced back stronger.
Tournament format
Straightforward format: 18 teams in a double round-robin (34 matches each). Top team promotes directly to Segunda RFEF; 2nd and 3rd enter playoffs. Bottom two-three relegate to Regional Preferente. Season runs August to May, playoffs in June. 2023/24 includes CD Huétor Tájar, Juventud Torremolinos, Málaga CF B.
Interesting facts
Average goals per game hover at 2.4–2.8, with defenses ruling but bursts of scoring. Last season's top scorer: CD Alhaurín de la Torre forward with 19 goals. Standouts include Javier Molina of Real Jaén, a set-piece wizard, and Antonio Molina from UD Almería B, now in elite youth ranks. Thrillers like Huétor Tájar's 4:3 win over Vélez showcase the drama.
