Serbia. Vojvodina U19 Cup
The Vojvodina U19 Cup is a regional youth tournament in Serbia's Vojvodina province, featuring under-19 teams from clubs in Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenjanin, and Vršac. Organized by the Vojvodina Football Association, it serves as a vital proving ground for emerging Serbian football talents, blending competitive matches with a strong focus on player development.
History and foundation
Launched in the early 2000s amid post-Yugoslav reconstruction, the inaugural edition was in 2003, establishing it as a cornerstone of regional youth football. A highlight: In 2015, Vojvodina U19 clinched the title with a 4-1 final win over Spartak Subotica, with their captain later breaking into the SuperLiga. The 2020 pandemic shortened the tournament, but it rebounded with youth VAR trials. Alumni include Milan Pavkov (Partizan) and Nikola Krstović, who shone in Europe.
Tournament format
Knockout format with a group stage twist: 16-24 teams divided into groups of four. Group winners advance to single-elimination playoffs—round of 16, quarters, semis, and final. Full 90-minute matches with extra time and penalties if needed. Runs from September to May alongside the U19 league.
