The Central Youth League (Centralna Liga Juniorów, CLJ) is Poland's top-tier youth football competition for under-19 teams from Ekstraklasa and I liga clubs. It acts as a crucial stepping stone, honing skills for the professional game. The season runs from August to June, with fixtures on academy grounds.

History and foundation

Launched in 2013 to revamp youth development, CLJ saw early dominance by Lechia Gdańsk and Lech Poznań academies. The 2019/20 season was halted by COVID, crowning Jagiellonia Białystok champions. Notably, stars like Sebastian Szymański (Feyenoord) and Mateusz Łęgowski (Salernitana) emerged from here.

Tournament format

14 teams split into North and South groups of seven for the initial phase. Top four from each advance to the championship group for the title fight, while others battle relegation. Format includes single round-robin in groups, followed by playoffs or subgroup continuations—typically 26–30 matches.
