The Polish Women's Cup is a prestigious national knockout competition run by the Polish Football Association (PZPN), pitting top women's clubs from across Poland against each other in a thrilling quest for glory. It levels the playing field, allowing underdogs from lower divisions to challenge Ekstraliga powerhouses in dramatic encounters.

History and foundation

Launched in 1984 amid the rise of women's football in Poland, the inaugural winners were Medyk Konin, who dominated early editions. The 1990s saw teams like Legia Warsaw and Pogón Szczecin shine. A standout moment: Górnik Łęczna's 5-0 demolition of champions Medyk Konin in the 2017 final, one of the tournament's biggest upsets. Over 30 editions have been held, with occasional pauses due to logistical hurdles.

Tournament format

The format features multiple qualifying rounds involving around 60 teams, from regional amateurs to Ekstraliga elites. It's pure knockout: winners advance through early rounds to the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and a grand final typically on neutral ground in spring.
