Liga 3 represents the third tier of Polish football, where regional clubs battle fiercely for promotion and survival. It serves as a vital breeding ground for talent, blending gritty competition with the emergence of promising players aiming for higher divisions.

History and foundation

Established in 2016 as part of a major overhaul of Poland's football pyramid, Liga 3 replaced the old III Liga with a fresh structure of four groups. This change amplified regional rivalries. Notable highlights include GKS Jastrzębie's (now Jastrzębie Zdrój) rapid ascent to Ekstraklasa, and the 2019 match-fixing scandal in Group 3, prompting stricter PZPN oversight. The 2020 pandemic disrupted play, yet the league resiliently resumed.

Tournament format

Divided into four regional groups (1-4) of 18 teams each, clubs play a double round-robin (34 matches). Top 4 from each form two promotion groups (upper and lower); the upper group's winner earns direct II Liga promotion (two spots total), with runners-up entering playoffs. Bottom teams face relegation to IV Liga.
