Kosovo Championship. Division 2
The Kosovo Championship Division 2 is the second-tier league in Kosovo's football pyramid, featuring regional clubs battling for promotion to the elite Superliga. It embodies the post-independence growth of Kosovo football, with passionate fans and high-stakes matches defining the season.
History and foundation
Established in its current form in 2016 by the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) following UEFA integration, the league traces roots to pre-1999 Yugoslav competitions. A notable milestone was KF Vëllazëria's 2017 title win and Superliga ascent. The 2020/21 season, disrupted by COVID-19, highlighted resilience with 16 teams vying intensely.

Comprising 16 teams, the league follows a double round-robin format over 30 matches. The champion earns direct promotion to the Superliga, the runner-up enters playoffs, and the bottom two drop to Division 3. The season runs from August to May, with a four-foreigner limit per match to nurture local talent.
