The CAFA U-19 Central Asia Cup is a prominent youth tournament organized by the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA). History and foundation

Launched in 2019, the inaugural edition was hosted in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, with the hosts clinching the title via a 1-0 final win over Uzbekistan. The 2022 tournament in Tashkent saw Uzbekistan triumph with dynamic attacking play. Paused by the pandemic, it resumed in 2023 in Bishkek, where Kyrgyzstan reached the final but fell to Iran. Notably, a 2021 mini-tournament spotlighted players now in European clubs.

Tournament format

Featuring 5-6 CAFA nations like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and occasionally Afghanistan, the format involves round-robin or group stages leading to knockouts. Teams play 4-5 matches each over about 10 days, involving up to 120 players under FIFA standards.

Average goals per match stand at 2.8, emphasizing swift counterattacks. Top scorers include Shahruh Ulugzoda (Tajikistan, 5 goals in 2019) and Abdulqadir Husanov (Uzbekistan, 4 in 2022).
