The Cameroon Women's Championship is the top-tier national league for women's football clubs in Cameroon. It plays a pivotal role in nurturing talent and elevating the profile of women's soccer in a country renowned for its national team's continental exploits. The league hosts annual competitions that feed into international preparations.

History and foundation

Women's football in Cameroon emerged in the 1990s, inspired by the men's 'Indomitable Lions.' The championship was formalized in the early 2000s under FECAFOOT. A milestone came in 2016 with the Lionesses reaching the Rio Olympics quarterfinals, boosting domestic interest. At the 2018 World Cup, they stunned New Zealand, with Gabrielle Onguéné shining. COVID disrupted 2020–2021 seasons, but revival brought sponsorships. Fun fact: In 2022, a Yaoundé-Bamenda clash drew 15,000 fans, a record.

Featuring 12–14 teams split into Western and Central zones, the season runs October to May with home-and-away round-robins per zone. Zone winners contest a grand final for the title. Bottom two teams per zone face relegation to the First Division. Games occur on 5,000–20,000-capacity stadiums, with video tech mandated since 2023.
