Originating in the mid-20th century, the cup has mirrored the growth of soccer in WA. In the 1970s-80s, Perth Scorpiouns and Inglewood reserves reigned supreme with multiple wins. Iconic moments include Flora reserves' 4-1 thrashing of Armadale in the 2012 final and Bayu City's shock victory in 2018. COVID halted play in 2020, but 2021's revival sparked new rivalries. Tournament format
Format entails a group stage with 8-12 teams in two pools, top two advancing to semifinals. The final is on neutral ground, often Members Equity Stadium. Running April to September alongside NPL, games are 90 minutes with extra time and penalties if needed.
