The President's Cup of Sri Lanka is a premier national football knockout competition run by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL). Launched in the early 2000s to boost football's profile, the first edition kicked off in 2002. The tournament paused during the civil war but resumed in 2011 as a symbol of national unity. A memorable moment came in 2015 when Colombo FC triumphed 3-1 over Southern SC in the final. Clubs like Renown SC and Saunders SC have multiple titles, with around 15 editions played to date.
Tournament format
It's a straight knockout format with 16-32 teams from the Premier League and lower divisions. Rounds start in May-June, culminating in a September final at a Colombo stadium. Single-leg ties decide progression, emphasizing do-or-die encounters.
