The Tercera División RFEF Group 3 is a fiercely competitive tier in Spain's football pyramid, featuring clubs mainly from Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia, and the Balearic Islands. Each season brings intense battles for promotion, survival, and regional bragging rights, blending ambitious projects with historic names and underdog stories.

History and foundation

Group 3 traces its roots to the original Tercera División founded in 1929, evolving into its current form post-2020 restructuring into five groups of 18. Previously the fourth tier, it's now fifth after Segunda RFEF's introduction. Highlights include UD Ibiza's ascent to Segunda B and Hercules Alicante's European triumphs. The 2019/20 season, halted by COVID-19, saw standings finalized by points-per-game ratio.

Tournament format

The format is straightforward: 18 teams play a double round-robin (34 matches each). The group winner advances to playoffs for promotion to Segunda RFEF. Runners-up and third join playoffs too. Bottom three relegate to the sixth tier, with 14th-16th in relegation playoffs. Season runs September to May, weather permitting on the islands.
