Primera División RFEF Women is Spain's third-tier women's club football league, featuring ambitious regional teams vying for promotion to the elite. It bridges grassroots and professional levels, nurturing talent in a competitive environment.

History and foundation

Launched in 2023 by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) as part of a structural overhaul replacing Tercera División Femenina, the league quickly gained traction. Deportivo Alavés Gloriosa claimed the inaugural 2023/24 title. A notable highlight: the rise of talents like Aisha Bakkar from lower divisions to higher echelons. Tense promotion playoffs in 2024 saw Real Unión advance to Segunda Federación.

Tournament format

Divided into five groups of 12–14 teams based on geography, each plays a 26-match round-robin. Top group winners and best runners-up enter playoffs for promotion to Segunda Federación Women, while bottom teams face relegation to Regional Preferente. The season runs September to May, emphasizing parity and development.
