History and foundation

Launched in 2010 by the Football Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic amid calls for structured youth development following senior team's Asian Cup struggles, the league was overhauled in 2015, expanding to 12 teams. Milestones include Abdyş-Ata's unbeaten 15-game streak in 2018, the 2021 doping controversy involving Alga, and Ernis Sharsheev's breakout in 2022, leading to his Dordoi first-team debut.

Tournament format

The format features a 12-team regular season with home-and-away round-robin matches (22 rounds total). Top four advance to playoffs: semifinals and a final on neutral ground. Running March to November with international break pauses, games last 90 minutes without VAR, spotlighting young referees.
