The Kenyan Women's Premier League is the top tier of women's football in Kenya, governed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). It showcases elite clubs, fostering growth in East African women's soccer amid rising interest in the sport beyond male-dominated traditions.

History and foundation

Women's football in Kenya emerged in the late 1990s, but the structured league took shape in the 2010s under FKF. Early formats involved regional qualifiers, stabilizing as a national championship by 2016. Notably, in 2019, Kenya's national team qualified for the Africa Women's Cup, boosting the league's profile. COVID-19 halted the 2020 season, but 2021's revival brought new sponsorships. Teams like Thika Queens and Gas Resources Ladies have claimed multiple titles.

Tournament format

Featuring 12–14 teams, the league operates a double round-robin format (home and away). The champion earns the title and a spot in CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers. Bottom two teams face relegation to the First Division. The season runs August to May, with a December break, on stadiums holding 5,000–15,000 fans.
