The Cypriot First Division, or Cyta Championship, is the top tier of professional football on the island, overseen by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). Launched in 1934, the league evolved into its current form in the 1960s. APOEL Nicosia dominates with 29 titles, followed by Omonia Nicosia (21) and AEK Larnaca (8).
