The Republic of Srpska Cup, or Kup Republike Srpske, is the premier knockout competition in the Serb-controlled entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Round of 16 stage delivers high-octane clashes where Premier League powerhouses meet underdogs from lower divisions, often sparking upsets and goal-fests that captivate local fans.

History and foundation

Launched in 1998 amid the post-Yugoslav fragmentation, the cup has mirrored the region's turbulent politics, thriving through post-Dayton stability. Iconic moments include Borac Banja Luka's dominant run in the early 2000s, clinching the trophy against odds, and Sloboda Tuzla's improbable semi-final charge in 2015. The 2022 edition battled COVID disruptions but shone with Zeljeznicar's epic comeback in the last 32.

Tournament format

Single-elimination knockout from the Round of 16 with 32 teams: regional league winners, top First League RS sides, and Federation Bosna invites. Hosted on the lower seed's turf, no replays. Winners advance to the last 16, culminating in a neutral-venue final. The away goals rule was recently scrapped to boost end-to-end action.
