Queensland Premier League 3 South Coast
The Queensland Premier League 3 South Coast is a regional football competition on Queensland's southern coast, Australia, featuring clubs from the South Coast area, including the Gold Coast and surrounds. Part of the third tier of Queensland's football pyramid under the Queensland Football Association (QFA), it nurtures amateur and semi-pro teams, fostering local talent in one of Australia's most vibrant regions.
History and foundation
Launched in the late 1990s amid Queensland's regional expansion, the league was restructured in the 2000s to fit FQ's multi-tier system. A highlight was 2015, when Broadbeach United staged a dramatic comeback from near-bottom to claim the title with 8 wins in their last 10 games. The 2020 season halted due to pandemic, but it bounced back robustly, celebrating 25 years in 2023 with over 5,000 fans at the grand final.
Tournament format
Comprising 10–12 teams in a double round-robin format (home and away), each plays 20–22 matches. Top 4 advance to playoffs: semi-finals and grand final on neutral ground. Promotion/relegation links to FQPL 2 and 4. Matches occur on semi-pro venues like Crocodiles Stadium (5,000 capacity). Season runs March to September.
