Launched in the early 2000s by local federations to boost youth development, the inaugural edition was in 2005. It has since become a scouting hotspot. The 2020 edition was canceled due to COVID but roared back with enhanced streaming.

Tournament format

The format kicks off with a group stage of 12-16 teams in 3-4 groups; top two advance to quarterfinals, semis, and final. Matches on neutral venues in Porto Alegre or Curitiba last 90 minutes, with extra time and penalties if needed. It spans 10-12 days in spring.
