The Roraimense League, officially Campeonato Roraimense, is the top-tier state football championship in Roraima, Brazil's northernmost state. Organized by the Roraima Football Federation (FFR), it features local clubs vying for supremacy, with winners qualifying for the Copa do Brasil and Copa Verde. Though smaller than southern giants like Carioca, it embodies raw passion and emerging talents in Brazil's diverse football landscape.

History and foundation

Founded in 1944, it's one of Brazil's northernmost competitions. Early dominance by Náutico de Roraima and Barcelona de Roraima marked the 1950s–70s. Key moments: São Raimundo's golden era with five titles in the 1990s, including a 1998 double; the 2012 upset when Porto Velho from Amazonas won; and recent São Paulo FC (RR) triumphs in 2023. The league has produced national stars amid Roraima's remote, Amazonian setting.

Tournament format

Typically 8–10 teams in a double round-robin format, playing 14–18 matches each. Top four advance to semifinals, then a single-match final. Season runs January to April, with playoffs adding drama. Guest teams from neighboring states like Amazonas occasionally join, boosting competitiveness.
