The Paranaense U20 League (Campeonato Paranaense Sub-20) is a regional youth tournament for under-20 teams from Paraná state, Brazil, run by the Paraná Football Federation (FCPF). Part of Brazil's youth development ecosystem, it nurtures talents from clubs like Athletico Paranaense, Coritiba and Paraná, drawing scouts from top Brazilian and European sides as a breeding ground for Seleção stars.

History and foundation

Launched in the 1990s to bolster youth football in Paraná, the league gained momentum in the 2000s with competitive reforms. Athletico Paranaense leads with over 10 titles, including 2018 and 2022 wins. Coritiba follows with 8. Highlight: the 2019 final where FC Prudentópolis edged Londrina 3-2 with a 93rd-minute goal. It weathered COVID pauses, rebounding strongly in 2021.

Tournament format

Features 12-14 teams split into two groups for round-robin home-and-away matches. Top 4 per group advance to single-leg quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final on neutral ground or the higher seed's home. Season runs January to May, syncing with the senior Paranaense Championship. Regular phase: 22-26 rounds.
