The Baiano League Division 2 is the second tier of Bahia state's championship, run by the Bahia Football Federation (FFFB). It features driven clubs from across the state chasing promotion to the top flight, embodying the fierce passion for football in Bahia where underdog teams from small towns battle for prestige.

History and foundation

Rooted in the 1980s, the league evolved as FFFB restructured state football to boost regional development. In the 1990s, it launched careers; Atlético Baiano earned promotion in 2005 via a thrilling final. Notably, the 2012 season halted due to Bahia floods, yet teams resiliently resumed, highlighting grit. It's nurtured stars who reached Brazil's Série A.
